Energy Things: Algae Materials

Algae are a source of bioplastic materials for Liquid Yarns — textile experiments with thermal processes for local indoor cooling. We will present research with algal materials and discuss the role of plastic and plasticity in our lives and the role of algae in ecosystems — from marine aquacultures to the waters of Berlin.

Credits

The exhibition “Energy Things” is the outcome of interdisciplinary research on approaches to ecological repair at the intersection of textiles and architectural practices. It is a collaboration of Museum der Dinge with the Cluster of Excellence “Matters of Activity” at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin as part of the _matter festival 2025.
