Welcome to the Werkbundarchiv – Museum der Dinge!
We would like to make your visit as pleasant and safe as possible. We therefore ask you to abide by the following rules. By entering our building, you agree to be bound by our rules.
1 The right to allow or deny access
(1) The museum management is authorised to allow or deny access to the premises, and may delegate this authority to other museum staff.
(2) In the event of disruption to museum operations or events, the museum staff reserve the right to exercise their right to deny access.
2 Opening hours, admission fees and entry
(1) The current opening hours and admission fees as well as any discounts or concessions can be found on the museum website or at the front desk.
(2) Visitors to the exhibitions may enter during opening hours with a valid ticket, unless otherwise stated.
(3) The museum is not obliged to refund admission fees. Tickets will not be replaced if they expire.
(4) Pyrotechnic articles, weapons and similar dangerous and/or other comparable objects may not be brought onto the premises.
3 Cloakroom and lockers
(1) Bags (larger than A4 size), umbrellas and other bulky items must be left in the cloakroom or stored in lockers free of charge before visiting the museum.
(2) The museum accepts no liability for belongings left in the cloakroom and lockers.
(3) If a locker key is lost, a replacement fee of 30 euros must be paid at the front desk. Cloakroom items will only be handed over without a key if visitors can credibly prove that they are authorised to receive them.
(4) Found objects of all kinds must be handed in to our supervisory staff. Lost property is handled in accordance with the regulations of the German Civil Code. The loss of any items must also be reported to the supervisory staff.
4 Behaviour on museum premises
(1) One of the museum’s main responsibilities is to protect the collection. Visitors are therefore reminded that they must behave in such a way that collection items and museum fixtures as well as any part of the museum building are not damaged, soiled or destroyed.
(2) Touching objects is not permitted; any exceptions to this rule are labelled.
(3) Visitors will be held responsible for any loss, soiling or damage to museum fixtures or collection items as well as any part of the museum building in accordance with the general provisions of the German Civil Code.
(4) Smoking is not permitted on museum premises.
(5) The consumption of food and drink is not permitted in the exhibition rooms. If an exception applies for special events, this will be clearly communicated by the museum.
(6) Animals (with the exception of assistance dogs) are not permitted on the premises.
5 Children and young people
(1) Responsible adults (e.g. parents, teaching staff) must supervise those entrusted to their care in order to prevent accidents, damage and any other incidents.
6 Accessibility
(1) The rooms of the museum are accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, for example those using wheelchairs and/or walking frames. Our supervisory staff will be happy to show you accessible routes.
(2) Portable folding chairs can be borrowed for use during your visit to the exhibition. Use of the folding chairs is at your own risk. The chairs have a maximum weight limit of 100 kg.
7 Prohibited behaviour, language and symbols
(1) Visitors and contractors are forbidden from disrespecting human freedom and dignity (Article 1 of the German Constitution) verbally, in writing or with gestures.
(2) Discriminatory clothing, costumes and anti-constitutional symbols will not be tolerated.
(3) Visitors must behave in such a way that they do not disturb or harass other people in the museum. We do not tolerate any racist, sexist, antisemitic, anti-LGBTQIA+ sentiments or other discriminatory language or behaviour (LGBTQIA+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/transsexual, queer, intersexual, asexual. The plus sign is a placeholder for other gender identities.).
(4) Visitors who belong to right-wing extremist organisations, are associated with right-wing extremism, or who have previously made discriminatory statements (e.g. racist, sexist, antisemitic, anti-LGBTQIA+) may be expelled from the premises.
8 Photo/video and sound recordings
(1) Photo/video and sound recordings are only permitted for private purposes. The use of flash, spotlights or tripods is prohibited. Photo/video and sound recordings for commercial and research purposes or in the context of current reporting (press) are only permitted with the written consent of the museum.
(2) Certain marked display cases may not be photographed.
(3) In the event that photo/video or sound recordings such as radio or television recordings are made by authorised persons during a public event or exhibition, visitors consent, by attending, to the fact they may feature in image and/or sound recordings and that these recordings may be broadcast/published without any entitlement to remuneration.
9 Escape and emergency routes
(1) Access routes and signposted escape routes must be kept clear at all times.
10 Violation of museum rules
(1) Instructions issued by museum staff to ensure that the above rules are observed must be followed. In the event of a violation of these instructions and/or the conduct guidelines stipulated in these rules, visitors may be banned from remaining on the premises on a case-by-case basis. In the event of more serious offences, the museum management may impose a temporary or permanent ban.
(2) The museum management reserves the right to prosecute offenders.
(3) Staff are authorised to document incidents that occur anywhere in the museum with additional technical support (e.g. photo/video equipment) if necessary.
11 Enforcement
These museum rules come into force on 8 November 2024.
