Johanna Hofmann wrote these lines in Wohnen in unserer Zeit. Wohnungsgestaltung der Interbau (Living in our Time. Interior Design of the Interbau), a book documenting the model homes of the Internationale Bauausstellung (International Building Exhibition) 1957, published by Das Beispiel (Darmstadt) one year after this big exhibition event in Berlin. It was marketed as a veritable home advice book.
From its very beginning, the Werkbund had used home advice literature to beat the drum for modern living concepts.
