Our thing of the month October is part of a collection of hundreds of hand-crafted designs for fabric and wallpaper patterns, which came to us this year via various donations from New York, Berlin, and Hamburg.
A group of young designers in the 1950s and 1960s with the name “Design Studio Berlin” created countless such designs, which today give an insight into taste, home decoration, and artistic techniques of that time. The designs were then sold to companies in Europe and the USA – among which Werkbund companies Pausa and Rasch – and manufactured as print fabrics or wallpapers.
Pictured here as Thing of the month October an original design and the finished product, a print fabric in numerous color variants.
